Pluto :: Aquarius Risings

Pluto & The Angles

Aquarius Risings :: Ascendant

You may have heard Astrologers talking about how Pluto in Aquarius will be affecting the Fixed Signs the most (Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio). And that is because Pluto moving into Aquarius will be aspecting these placements in some way over the next 18 years. Equally as important, if you are an Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, or Scorpio Rising, Pluto will be transiting your Angles.

When Pluto transits the angles of your natal chart, it signals deeply transformative periods that redefine the core of who you are and how you relate to the world. As Pluto touches these points of the natal chart, it brings an energy of intense, cathartic change, urging you to let go of old structures, patterns, and identities that no longer serve your evolution.

These transits often last for roughly 3 years, so they are deeply impactful and can unearth major change. On the other side of these transits, you will not be the same.

If you are a 0-4 degrees Aquarius Rising (Ascendant at 0-4 degrees), this transit will be occurring for you over the next 3-4 years, and you may have already begun to feel it’s effects.

Looking at the left side of the natal chart you can find “ASC” and the number next to it. The example above is Ascendant at 4 degrees, and you can see Pluto is at 29 degrees Capricorn, so it is 5 degrees away from the Ascendant. This native will have already begun to feel the effects of Pluto conjunct the Ascendant.

For Aquarius Risings, this transit brings a powerful period of transformation at the very core of self. It reaches into the foundation of who you are and how you show up in the world, initiating an in-depth metamorphosis that can feel both daunting and liberating.

Pre-Ascendant (3°-1° Before the Ascendant)

Lesson: As Pluto moves closer to your Ascendant, you’re invited to begin the work of acknowledging where you may still be holding onto an old identity, outdated roles, or hidden insecurities. This phase is about becoming aware of where your personal power has been limited by internal or external forces. You’re preparing for a breakthrough by examining past conditioning, suppressed emotions, or unexpressed desires that have shaped your self-image.

Challenges: This stage can feel uncomfortable as subconscious fears, insecurities, and past traumas start to bubble up. You may feel discomfort or or a sense of impending change, which can be disorienting. Old survival mechanisms, like avoidance or denial, may intensify as a way to resist what’s coming.

Making It Easier: Create space for reflection and introspection. Journaling, therapy, or other forms of self-inquiry can help you process emerging fears and identify limiting beliefs. Developing a meditation practice can also aid in easing tension and cultivating a calm, observant mindset, allowing you to witness what surfaces without reacting or retreating into old patterns.

Exact Conjunction (0° from the Ascendant)

Lesson: Pluto’s exact conjunction to the Ascendant is a powerful initiation into a new way of being. This transit serves as a rite of passage where you confront the core aspects of your identity, facing and releasing any masks that aren’t truly you. This phase teaches you about the authentic self, who you are beyond expectations, roles, and societal conditioning. It is a rebirth of self-definition, leading you toward greater personal autonomy and freedom.

Challenges: The intensity of this phase can be overwhelming, with possible identity crises, dramatic life changes, or feelings of disempowerment. Relationships and external circumstances may test you, pushing you to assert boundaries and let go of unaligned connections. It can be tempting to cling to the familiar, but this is a time when old attachments and habits are truly ready to be released.

Making It Easier: Embrace the idea of letting go and practice non-attachment. Cultivate self-compassion and remind yourself that this process is temporary yet profoundly transformative. Surround yourself with people who support your growth rather than resist it, and seek out supportive resources, whether that’s a trusted friend, mentor, or spiritual practice, that help you feel grounded. This phase is intense, but it’s also empowering; staying open to change will help you flow with the energy rather than fight it.

Post-Ascendant (1°-3° After the Ascendant)

Lesson: As Pluto moves away from your Ascendant, its influence deepens the work begun during the conjunction phase. This is where you start integrating the initial changes and learning to embody your true self. You’re shedding deeper layers of conditioning, learning to be unapologetically yourself, and letting go of any remnants of past self-limitations. This phase is about refining your inner strength and authenticity.

Challenges: This stage can be challenging because it often brings latent fears or vulnerabilities to the forefront, revealing any remaining areas where you might still be holding back. There may be temptations to revert to old roles, particularly if they feel safer or if others push back against your changes. Emotional challenges may also arise, as deeper wounds or unresolved traumas surface to be healed.

Making It Easier: Lean into self-care and grounding practices that help you feel centered and supported. This is a great time for shadow work, such as journaling, therapy, or working with a trusted guide who can help you process deep-seated fears and limitations. Allow yourself to feel vulnerable; this openness will facilitate healing and deeper transformation. Gentle rituals of self-empowerment, like setting personal boundaries or expressing your truth in small ways, can build your confidence in embracing your renewed self.

Integration (4°-6° After the Ascendant)

Lesson: As Pluto moves further away from the Ascendant, you enter a phase of integration, where the transformation begins to feel more settled. This phase allows you to anchor into your new sense of self, becoming more aware of how to express your authentic identity in everyday life. The lessons in this phase involve learning to trust yourself, staying true to your values, and expressing your personal power more freely.

Challenges: Integrating significant change can be challenging, as you may feel pressure to revert to old patterns, especially in familiar situations or with certain relationships. Testing moments may arise where others resist or question your transformation. Balancing the “new you” with longstanding habits or relationships can feel tricky, especially if they aren’t fully aligned with your new sense of self.

Making It Easier: Practice consistency in small, authentic actions. Reinforce your identity by honoring your boundaries, speaking up for yourself, and staying committed to your goals and values. Engage in activities that help reinforce your new sense of self, such as setting personal goals, exploring creative projects, or joining supportive communities. This is also a good time to affirm your growth through positive habits and rituals that align with who you are becoming.

Stabilization (7°-10° After the Ascendant)

Lesson: In this final phase, you anchor into and ground the new foundation you’ve created. This phase brings a sense of inner security, where you feel more comfortable in your power and are able to maintain your identity without fear of judgment or disempowerment. You’re learning how to embody the “new you” with ease and assurance, able to assert yourself with a sense of peace rather than intensity.

Challenges: While the intense transformation is behind you, there may still be moments where life tests your commitment to this empowered self. People or situations may still challenge your boundaries, but these tests are often milder, giving you a chance to refine rather than overhaul your identity. There can also be residual attachments to old ways of being that may surface from time to time.

Making It Easier: Reinforce the stability of your identity by building routines, relationships, and structures that support the new you. This phase benefits from grounding practices, such as setting routines or taking on responsibilities that allow you to embody your sense of power without the need for intensity. Practicing mindfulness, gratitude, or daily affirmations can reinforce a calm, assured state of being that is no longer shaken by external influence.

Reminder that these transits last for years at a time. The energy could feel subtle because of how slow Pluto moves, but it may also not be as subtle and an energy that is percolating for years. This journey is here to lead you to empowerment and authenticity, creating a profound inner resilience. Pluto transits can often feel disruptive in the beginning, but Pluto is here to transform us into the best version of ourselves. It helps us let go of outdated beliefs, identities, and emotions that no longer support the person we are becoming. The overall gift from this transit is a renewed sense of self.
