Saturn Cycles ::
The cycles of Saturn can often be some of the most life changing phases of our life. They are the times in our life that we can look back on… when we left the job, started a new career path, left the relationship, anchored our relationship into something more committed, moved across the country, and more.
A Saturn Return is when Saturn comes back to the exact point of your natal Saturn.
So, when transit Saturn comes back to the exact place and degree of where Saturn is in your birth chart.
Every seven years, Saturn’s transit also comes to a pivotal point to your natal wheel.
It is like a cosmic checkpoint to see if you have been implementing the lessons that arrived at your Saturn Return.
How easy or difficult these transits are correlate with how well you have been listening and integrating Saturn’s lessons.
7.375 years [to be exact] after your Saturn Return, transit Saturn squares your natal Saturn.
7 years after that, transit Saturn will oppose your natal Saturn.
Then 7 years after that, the square happens again.
And finally, 7 more years later, you have your second Saturn Return.
This doesn’t include all the stops that Saturn makes throughout your natal chart, touching on all of the other planets, and leaving just as large of an impact.
Arguably transits like: Saturn conjunct Moon, Saturn square Pluto, and other Saturn squares are just as intense, or in my experience, harsher than Saturn transits to natal Saturn.
But, I often see a lot of people going through very Saturn Return-like themes around the age of 36 to 37.
I’ve witnessed ladies sharing in circle their experiences and others asking if they’re going through their Saturn Return, when they are in fact experiencing their Saturn Square.
Saturn is here to teach us to listen. To listen to all of the messages that we have been bypassing or ignoring.
Saturn brings those lessons to the foreground to allow us to choose differently and in a more aligned way.
Saturn is one of the Malefics, yes, but in my experience being Saturn dominant, Saturn wants you to succeed.
You often have to get to that place through responsibility, discipline, and accountability for your own life.
And, Saturn will make it very clear where you’re not honoring yourself.
It will bring awareness to where you’re self-abandoning, to where you’re doing things out of obligation, or because you were told they were correct or what will help you succeed.
Is what you’re doing in alignment with your true self?
Are you doing what you came here to do?
Are you shape shifting and contorting yourself in ways that don’t align with your authenticity?
Are you in relationships for ease or out of scarcity?
Saturn will make it all known… and loudly so.
It was ask you to take responsibility for your life, your connections, your ambitions, your day-to-day.
And ultimately, will bless you the more you lean into alignment with what your soul desires.
Your interests, whispers, passions… they are your road map. They are here for a reason.
I didn’t have a dream to be a firefighter, but that is someone out there’s dream. And it’s there for a reason.
Follow the whispers of your soul, or Saturn will come through and start screaming at you to listen.
~AGE 21:: Saturn Square Saturn:
Saturn isn’t just your Saturn Return at age 28-30ish… it starts around 21 with Saturn squaring Saturn. For those who graduate college around this time, Saturn is at play behind the scenes as you end the cycle of always knowing what your next step is, because its always been mapped out for you ie. middle school > high school > college/trade school (if you attended)… to not knowing what’s next. This is a sobering time that requires hard work, self-discipline and planning. The more you apply yourself during this transit and learn from the lessons it brings, the more easeful your Saturn Return can be.
~AGE 28-30:: Saturn Conjunct Saturn (Saturn Return):
The famous Saturn Return, your cosmic coming of age. A time of great change, maturity, growth, and impact. During this transit, relationships may come to an end, especially if they are not in alignment with your authenticity. You may change your career or living arrangements. Anything that you have been ignoring or sweeping under the rug will come up for review during this time. You will be examining every part of your life and aligning yourself with who you truly are at a soul level. This is a time of ending and beginnings, and it could feel isolating and heavy. It is also a reflection of your hard work and dedication since your Saturn sq. Saturn at 21. Whatever in your life that is false/inauthentic will fall away or become unbearable. There is so much change happening during this period it’s best to carve out time for yourself and offer compassion as it may be overwhelming and disorienting. On the other side of your Saturn Return, you really begin to feel like a true adult, and there is a lot more peace, ease, and understanding. For those Saturn dominant or Saturn ruled, your Saturn Return may not be as difficult as people reference it to be… or it could be harder all depends on taking accountability for your life.
Take note of what house your Saturn Return is happening in, as the themes of that house will be especially important during this transit.
~AGE 36-37:: Saturn Square Saturn: Your first cosmic checkpoint since your Saturn Return. Saturn comes to a point of friction with your natal Saturn bringing up how you’ve been applying yourself since your Saturn Return. Have you taken what you learned and maintained responsibility and accountability? Or have you fallen back into bad habits? Have you been ignoring your needs and desires to keep the peace? Are you following the path the you desire? Or have you strayed and fallen into something more predictable and safe? Saturn is going to come in and ask you to take inventory of your life. The square’s friction will make it so that anything that isn’t aligned is un-ignorable, begging for re-alignment. How easy or difficult this transit is proportionate to how much you are listening to what is asking for change. If you are stuck in a marriage you hate, this will be the time you will make a change. I most often see divorces occurring during this transit. That’s not to say that’s your fate. Saturn just wants realignment to your authentic path and ideal.
~AGE 43-44:: Saturn Opposite Saturn:
Your Saturn Opposition is your “final” mid-life crisis transit. This transit is often called your “mid-life reality check.” It usually happens between 43-44.
The intensity of this transit will be a reflection point from 14 years prior (your Saturn Return). Your Saturn Return will have marked your astrological coming of age, usually marking a time of personal transformation, new beginnings, and realization>alignment with your authentic self. 7 years ago, you went through Saturn square Saturn which would have tested the strength and validity of the new paths you began from your Saturn Return. If you did not make changes to the structures and patterns that were highlighted 7 years ago, this transit may prove harsh, feeling restrictive and bringing about limitations, and endings. However, everything you handled well or addressed from that transit will prove more abundant. You may reach a peak success point in your life. Saturn is the Lord of Karma and rewards hard work, discipline and responsibility. So, if you faced what was shown to you, you will be rewarded (possibly with more responsibility) during this time. Pay attention to the signs and don’t fight them. Try not to fall into self-doubt, despair or depression. Use it as data and information to move toward success in all areas.
~AGE 57-60:: Saturn Conjunct Saturn (2nd Saturn Return): The famous Saturn Return, your second time experiencing this transit. This is a time of ending and beginnings, and it may feel isolating and heavy. It is also a reflection of your hard work and dedication since your first Saturn Return ~age 29. Whatever in your life that is false/inauthentic will fall away or become unbearable. There is so much change happening during this period it’s best to carve out time for yourself and offer compassion as it may be overwhelming and disorienting. This is a time when we reflect on how we want the rest of our life to feel and what we want it to look like. This transit instills deep confidence, maturity, wisdom, and freedom.
It’s also important to take note of what house your Saturn Return is happening in, as the themes of that house will be especially important during this transit.
