There’s a natural tendency to go toward the light… to surround yourself with positivity, inspiration, and push away negative or heavy emotions.
It’s normal and natural to want to feel good.
But part of self-love is also embracing your shadow.
Embracing and accepting the darker or heavier sides of your personality and emotional range.
The things we are normally taught to reject, shame, change, stifle, and push down.
To avoid and to escape…
Your body is always communicating with you.
Trying to get you to slow down when you’ve been pushing yourself too hard.
Trying to communicate that this emotion has meaning… it’s trying to tell you something
Heavier emotions are here to show you something
To guide you and protect you
To help you heal, to show you where you may still be wounded
To show you when something is out of alignment
The whisper doesn’t go away, it only gets louder
And the longer we stifle it, the more resistance we create for ourselves
Learning to love and accept the parts or feelings we reject creates more ease and flow
Allowing us to become the observer of our thoughts and emotions
And detaching from labels and absolutes… that “I’m always this way” or creating a narrative about who we are permanently
We evolve, shift, change and grow.
By allowing things not to define us, we embody more of our multifaceted selves.
